For almost 50 years, the women of the Hammondville Church of God (7th Day) have served the church and community as the “Willing Workers.” The group meets once per month either in the church fellowship hall or in the home of the hostess for the month. The meetings consist of a devotion and time of sharing, as well as a time of reviewing current projects and planning future ones. Refreshments are provided by the hostess and a time of prayer for members’ needs concludes each meeting.
Through the years the WW’s have sponsored children through World Vision, The Daughters of the King and the Widows and Orphans Program of COG7, sponsored numerous students at Spring Vale Academy both from the local congregation and around the district and supplied a local nursing home with toiletry items. Current projects include participating in “Backpacks of Blessings” where we supply easily prepared or already prepared snacks/food for school children to eat over the weekend and during school holidays. We supply these backpacks for the local public school. We also participate in the “Baskets of Blessings” at Thanksgiving, providing and delivering Thanksgiving dinner fixings for local families in need. Besides community service projects, the women also plan and execute the yearly Vacation Bible School for the children of the church, plan and sponsor fun nights for the church and coordinate other benevolence projects with the local church board. A yearly day retreat is a time for the women to study and reflect on God’s goodness to us.
